Eligibility for workshop attendee

There are no prerequisites for joining this workshop. Anyone interested can join this workshop. While a basic C Programming would be helpful, it is not compulsory. Students from Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, CS/IT or from any branch can attend this workshop.

Will there be any participation certificate given?

Yes, Certification of Participation will be given to all students participants of the workshop after successful completion.

Is there an affiliate program for this workshop?

No

Do I need to read anything before I attend a workshop?

No. You don't have to read anything before you attend the workshop. Each workshop is designed to be complete unto itself.

Can I record the workshop (audio or video)?

Please don't record the workshops. People often share personal details of their lives at these events. We can't authorize anyone to record what's being shared in the room. These workshops are meant to be live, interactive experiences. If we do a workshop that will be recorded, it will be announced in advance, so everyone knows that up front.

Can I attend only part of the workshop (and pay a lower registration fee)?

No, Varistor's workshops are designed to be experienced in their entirety, not in parts. Later material builds upon the earlier material. If you expect to miss some of it, it's probably not a good idea to attend. Plan to be there for every day of it.

Should I bring my laptop or tablet to the workshop room?

You are advised to bring your laptop or if the workshop room is well set up with the PCs than not required to bring your laptop.

What should I wear to the workshop?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. If you feel good in shorts and a t-shirt, that’s fine. If you want to wear something nicer, that’s fine too. Most attendees dress somewhere along the spectrum between casual and business casual but leaning towards the casual side.

What are the workshop hours?

6 to 8 Hours per day, 1 Hour lunch break along with two 15 minutes short break one before lunch and one after lunch will be given.

What should I do as a Workshop participant?

Workshops are designed to help students put into practice what they have just learned in the courses. Students aren't expected to do the Workshop problems ahead of time. They are expected, however, to have prepared well for these sessions by attending lectures and completing the course readings and related assignments. In the IoT Workshop sessions themselves, students get the most out of the experience if they don't hang back, but instead jump right into the discussion. It is ok to make mistakes in Workshops; that is how learning happens.

Why would I want to be a IoT Workshop participant?

As a member of a Workshop, students can improve their learning by active engagement in solving the Workshop problems with their peers. Ongoing research demonstrates that students who participate in Workshops are more likely to stay in the course and earn better grades. On surveys, students often rate the Workshop as one of the most valuable components of the course. And learning through practical is always being better than the theoretical.
