One Year Anniversary of Pulwama Attack

It’s just one year completed today when Pulwama terror attack had happened by which the lives of a total of 40 CRPF soldiers lost their lives.  The Pulwama district in Jammu & Kashmir had witnessed a noxious terrorist attack, and claiming the lives of CRPF jawans who lost their lives in a suicide bomber attack in Pulwama of Jammu & Kashmir on February 14 last year.

To offer honor to the martyrdom of those Indian forces or jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack, The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is going to inaugurate a memorial at the district’s Lethpora camp on today. The CRPF also pays homage to those 40 martyrs by organizing a wreath-laying ceremony at Lethpora Camp to honor their first death anniversary.

A brief of the Incident- Pulwama terror attack

It was a day like any other routine day for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, who were traveling on the National Highway 44 and that particular day when Jammu and Kashmir witnessed its nastiest terror attacks. At nearly 3:15 AM on February 14, 2019, a group of CRPF jawans was hit by an explosives-laden SUV when they were on their way at the Srinagar-Jammu highway. The terror attack was reported near Awantipora resulted in the death of 40 CRPF jawans, even though many security persons were left injured.

After this incident happened, a question raised on the security system of Jammu and Kashmir. The investigation becomes started and confirmed that the attack claimed by Pakistan-based Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed and the attacker identified as Adil Ahmad Dar, a member of Jaish-e-Mohammed (a 22-year old from Kakapora).



India perceived massive protests, candlelight marches across several states to express unity with the jawans martyred in Pulwama terror attack. The delegation of Indian doctors canceled their visit to Pakistan for the 13th Association of Anesthesiologists Congress, which was organized by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, in Lahore on 7 March. Even the All Indian Cine Workers’ Association announced a ban on Pakistani artistes in the Indian film industry with a statement that strong action would be taken on any organization violating it.

Status of India after one year of Pulwama attack

Today on 14th February 2020 – one year after the Pulwama attack, there has been a complete change in the night watch strategy of the security forces. Crucial security measures have taken by India government after Pulwama attack, and some of them are as follows:

  • Armed forces or squad movement is now done in coordination with other security forces and the Army
  • CRPF can carry militaries by air to avoid the possibility of any such attack
  • The procedure of bullet-proofing of vehicles carrying servicemen has been advanced
  • Even many more bunker-type vehicles running on roads carrying jawans
